Product Description

Essential Oils enter and leave the body with great efficiency. External application or inhalation is the most effective entry point for essential oils. Compresses, lotions, baths and hair rinses are most effective because the oils do not have to come in contact with the digestive system and become altered by their chemistry. Essential Oils are the pure aromatic oils derived from plants. They are extracted with steam, cold pressed or, if solvent extracted, are known as Absolutes. Essential oils have been used for thousands of years for perfumes, well being, psychic awareness, and prayer.

Massage is the favored method to use essential oils, at a rate of 1-3% in a base of vegetable oil, such as olive, sunflower, almond, jojoba, etc. That would equal 15 to 40 drops in 1/4 cup of oil. Massage ensures the oils are absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream. Rub parts of the body that are causing discomfort, such as peppermint on the stomach to ease digestion.

Skin oils and lotion may be fortified with a few drops of essential oils. Gently massage with fingers on the face and neck. The Essential Face Serum is good for dry and mature complexions and is premixed in a oil base; Acne Serum can be used on the blemish, or diluted in oil to treat the face, neck and back. An astringent blend for sores, blemishes and scrapes can be made with Everclear or Vodka by adding 6 drops to one teaspoon of alcohol.

Hot compresses can relieve pain and reduce inflammations. Fill a bowl with hot water, add 4 or 5 drops of essential oil. Dip a piece of cotton cloth into the bowl, squeeze, then place on the affected area until cool; repeat.

You can add essential oils to our Shampoos and Conditioners for specific problems, such as rosemary, bay and chamomile to condition and encourage growth (try our Hair Gain blend). You can also add the oils to a base oil to massage into the scalp, then wrap the hair in towels for a hour or two.

Adding 20 drops of essential oil to three ounces of distilled water in a spray bottle can be used as a toner and a room spray. For the face, try rose, orange and/or lavender.

Adding 5 to 10 drops of essential oils to the bath is a sensual experience and can help relieve stress and insomnia.

Add essential oils to a steaming pot of hot water to vaporize a room. Use a block of wood to absorb the oils, and place in drawers or closets to freshen and repel insects.

Essential oils can be used with warm water as a douche to help combat urinary infections such as thrush. Use 5 to 10 drops in one quart of water.

Essential oils can be added to freshen a potpourri, on a paper towel to scent laundry in the dryer, on vacuum bags to scent a room, under the nose to relieve a headache (peppermint is especially good for headaches).
